For those who want to expernence the biggest and longest glacier in all its splendor, ist the Konkoriahut the right adress. The hut used to be located just a few meters above the glacier but due to the global warming it now lies approximately 150 meters above the "Konkordiaplatz". Composed of 4 ice streams joining to the Great Aletsch glacier, this wide ice plateau truely is an eyecatcher.
Rather uncommon for the Swiss Alps, the sight of these dimensions and distances take time to accustane oneself to.
The "Jungfraujoch" in the north, the "Lötschenlücke" in the west and in the south one finds the "Eggishorn". All of them in about 8km distance.
Mountaineers and people hiking on the Great Aletsch glacier appear to be no bigger than a grain of sand at the beach. Everyone, ho is to visit the Konkordiahut will have to deal with the glacier, its beauty, its dangers and as mentioned , its dimensions.

Die Konkordiahütte liegt westlich, knapp ausserhalb des Flabschiesssektors. Touren innerhalb des Sektors sind während den Schiessübungen verboten.
