glaciertrekking

glaciertrekking

Various mountaineering schools and independent local guides enrich their summer program with fascinating glaciertrekkings on the longest alpine glacier. These tours are also suited for beginners. The most important requirement is having a healthy fitness which allows a 5 to 6 hours hike in a little thinner air.

The hike usually starts on top of Europes highest railwaystation called "Jungfraujoch" which already reveals a breathtaking scenery. Guided safely, passing smaller and bigger crevasses, one follows the flow of the Great Altesch glacier down to the Konkordiahut. Aside a tasty dinner, the huts location offers an extensive view over a sea of ice.
After having spent a restful night at the hut, you follow the glacier further down to the "Märjellensee'' and Fiesch Alp.
